While amalgam audio has released captures of all the major amps used throughout the praise-and-worship community, until now we had not built a pack around the specific needs of the genre.

The Dual Amp KIT P&W Edition focuses on some of the most desirable and musical combinations of EL84 and Fender-based designs, approached with our own twist on the theme.

The pack delivers the chime, bloom and boldness associated with classic P&W tones, while also covering some of the most musical, sophisticated and inspiring sounds in the clean-to-mid-gain range.

Dual-amp setups offer qualities that set them apart from conventional single-amp tones. When two amps with very different sonic characters are summed correctly, the result is cleaner, fuller and more complex, with greater bloom and fewer of the fizzy artefacts that a single amp can sometimes reveal. The two amps reinforce their complementary frequencies while helping to soften the less flattering extremes of either one.

For example, two amps set at the edge of breakup can still sound clean when combined, while retaining the responsiveness, compression and bloom of higher-gain settings.

It is the ultimate cheat code for an articulate, sophisticated and touch-sensitive tone. These combinations respond naturally to boost, overdrive and compression, occupy a manageable footprint in the mix and retain enough healthy midrange to cut through even dense arrangements.

Done correctly, a dual-amp setup gives you the best of both worlds while offsetting the shortcomings of either amp. You can retain the big, bold and controlled low end of a 6L6-powered design without the looser low-end response sometimes associated with EL84 amps, then add the midrange, chime and harmonic complexity of the EL84 circuit to the classic scooped American foundation.

To take things further, we used several of the genre’s staple drive pedals: an original Silver Klon, a King of Tone and a Timmy. In some cases, the Klon was placed after another drive to add sustain and compression, producing a smooth, sustaining tone without excessive or obvious distortion.

Some captures feature one or even two drive pedals, but they have been designed to remain highly usable with an additional boost or overdrive placed in front. They also respond well to a considerable increase in the capture’s gain setting when more saturation is needed.

We deliberately did not bake compression into the captures. Compressor preferences vary considerably, and many players will already be using a preferred compressor model, pedal or capture in front of the amp.

The KIT includes three amp pairings, each captured with its respective speaker cabinets:

• 1964 VOX AC30 Top Boost Super Twin + 1965 Fender Super Reverb
• Two-Rock CRS + Bad Cat Era 30
• Matchless HC-30 + Tone King Imperial

These are among the most desirable high-end dual-amp setups available. Complete real-world rigs can easily exceed $10,000, making them impractical—or simply unattainable—for many players.

The included captures pair well with humbuckers, Filter’Trons and single-coils, covering everything from brighter, more open sounds to warmer and fuller tones. Gain levels range from clean and edge-of-breakup settings to smooth drive and lead tones, using both individual pedals and stacked overdrives.

The pack contains 37 AMP+CAB captures featuring the amps and pedals. Each dual-amp combination has already been summed and can be loaded as a single capture on any supported device for your chosen platform.
